The good news is that after being available for a little while the community of anxious netbook owners have finally figured out a way to get OS X onto the Asus 1201N.
These are the complete steps but in order to turn the 1201N into a Mac:

You can download NBI for the 1201n here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/863180/1201n/Netbo…ler%201201n.zip
Note that it’s currently uploading, and may take some time (dropbox is also downloading everything to the 1201n…)
Note2: This is not NetbookBootMaker (I don’t have it with me at the moment, on the macbook…). That means follow ...

For people looking to install Apple OS X onto their netbook, there aren’t many places where you can get in depth information on how to go about doing the installation and talking to people if you have issues. While searching around I happened to come across Hackintosh.com.
Now, I’m too afraid to try and do something like this myself but I know there’s a minority out there that can’t wait to get a hold of a new project like this.
Be careful though, I hear once you go Mac….you never go back.

Pardon the image but I wanted to show how Apple is morphing itself into an evil entity. It’s been said that in the most recent OS X update to 10.6.2 support for Intel Atom processors will end. This means that people who try to put this update on their netbooks hoping to turn it into a Hackintosh will be deeply disappointed.
What options exist? You can either make sure to get 10.6.1 and don’t update or hope that someone hacks 10.6.2 to allow everyone to get back to getting cheap Macbooks.

A hackintosh is a computer, typically a netbook with an Apple OS installed on it. Wired did some tinkering and found that installing the latest version of Mac OS caused some improvements. Specifically they said:
Here’s a rather odd little tidbit regarding Apple’s latest update to OS X. While it doesn’t bring many new features to the Mac, consisting as it does of mostly bug-fixes, OS X 10.5.7 apparently gives a significant boost to battery-life on hackintoshes. Reports from the MSI Wind forums are claiming a boost up to 33%, from 3 hr 45 ...

There’s a community of people who pursue the idea of putting OS X on non-Mac computers. The MSI Wind is the subject of choice for modders nowadays with pretty decent results.
Below is a video of the finished product:

If you’re so inclined and bold, there are step by step instructions on how to perform a similar feat on your own. You can find it here.
Before you get started you’re going to need a few things:
