The good news is that after being available for a little while the community of anxious netbook owners have finally figured out a way to get OS X onto the Asus 1201N.
These are the complete steps but in order to turn the 1201N into a Mac:

For people looking to install Apple OS X onto their netbook, there aren’t many places where you can get in depth information on how to go about doing the installation and talking to people if you have issues. While searching around I happened to come across Hackintosh.com.
Now, I’m too afraid to try and do something like this myself but I know there’s a minority out there that can’t wait to get a hold of a new project like this.
Be careful though, I hear once you go Mac….you never go back.

There was a rumor going around that Apple was removing support for Atom processors in the 10.6.2 update to Mac OS X. This rumor turned out to not be correct so if you weren’t sure to update your hackintosh — go for it.

Pardon the image but I wanted to show how Apple is morphing itself into an evil entity. It’s been said that in the most recent OS X update to 10.6.2 support for Intel Atom processors will end. This means that people who try to put this update on their netbooks hoping to turn it into a Hackintosh will be deeply disappointed.
What options exist? You can either make sure to get 10.6.1 and don’t update or hope that someone hacks 10.6.2 to allow everyone to get back to getting cheap Macbooks.

BoingBoing has a great compatibiliy chart if you’re looking to turn a netbook into a Mac. Many people are already familiar with the MSI Wind being a great hackintosh worthy machine. Also on the list for most compatible are the Dell Mini 9, and Lenovo S10.
