A user over at CNET had a chance to get their hands on an eMachines netbook from Walmart and decided to share his thoughts.  Here they are:
Here’s the rundown.
1. HULU. It’s not perfect but it did work. If you must have perfect playback, don’t run HULU full screen.
2. WATTS. I have a P3 Watt meter and it is serving up a network share and after the screen went off the Watt meter is showing 8 WATTS. Take that NAS!

Acer has been planning a careful assault on the PC market.  They started with providing laptops priced under HP, Dell, and Toshiba hoping people would take notice.  Customers did, and in a big away.  To help keep up the steam Acer bought eMachines, another brand who paved their way on the back of low pricetags.

The eMachines EM250 became really popular after Christmas 2009 once Walmart announced that it would be selling it for $228.  Since then, Walmart no longer sells it but they are available for $279.  At $279, there are a lot of other options out there (like the Acer Aspire One 532h for $299) for you to consider but some people who have bought one have taken the time to review it.

The netbook deal of the day for January 7th, 2010 is the eMachines eM250.  This netbook was on sale for $228 at the end of 2009 but that deal is long gone.  Now Best Buy is selling this netbook for $249 which is a great deal on a 10 inch netbook with Windows 7 loaded onto it.

Walmart will be matching Best Buy with their own after “After Christmas Sale.”  At Walmart, they will be selling a eMachines netbook for the low price of $228.

Back in August 2007, Acer bought Gateway.  Three years earlier, Gateway purchased discount PC manufacturer eMachines.  This gives Acer control of three powerhouse brands that have a lot of recognition in retail stores around the country and around the world.
With Acer looking to ship between 12 – 15 million netbooks we should expect to see netbooks from the Gateway and eMachines name.  Similar to the Compaq/HP strategy, Acer can align the brands to meet different segments of the market with Acer continuing to be the mainline consumer brand with Gateway …
