First they killed the female focus section of their site Della, then they killed the Mini 9, now Dell is back at it with a new victim – the Mini 12.  If you check out Dell’s current lineup of netbooks you’ll find that the Mini 12 is no longer there.  Don’t believe me? – Go and check it out for yourself.

As the internet became full of the buzz that Dell would no longer be making or selling their Mini 9 many people wondered why.  It was heralded for being great at being hacked and turned into a hackintosh, it fit nicely in the lineup of other Mini netbooks from Dell – it just didn’t make sense.  Then it hit me, it must have to do with money!

There is a lot of buzz online today about Dell dropping the price on their 10 inch Mini 10 to $299.  While this may sound like a great deal something about this just sounds a little off.  The deal is available yet, but one of the things I’d be on the lookout for are any changes to the warranty or to any of the other “extras” Dell usually gives out which may be removed.

MyDellMini.com has a forum point where someone added touch screen capabilities to their Dell Mini 9 netbook. They did it under the Ubuntu Linux operating system with parts purchased from eBay.

HP has spent the last few years in a pissing contest with Dell.  HP enjoys being able to say that they ship more computers than any other company, but with a lot of smart moves Dell has been making recently.  Resisting being undone, HP is focusing on netbooks since it’s a section of computers that are growing rapidly.
