Many may argue but there are two different types of netbooks – those with Windows and those without.  Whether it’s Apple, or Intel it almost doesn’t matter who makes the operating system if it isn’t Microsoft.  This may sound pompous until you realize why it doesn’t matter.

I wonder if Dell heard it when Google CEO Eric Schmidt was discussing the prospect of Android on netbooks.  While he didn’t have any specific announcements for netbooks, he did spend time discussing the concept that they’re perfect for leveraging the cloud.
From his standpoint it makes sense.  While it may not be possible to get netbooks and Android to work out the right way he does have a money printing machine with Adwords.  This platform works well with desktops using Windows and a browser.  If this installed based grows and …

I get it Dell.  I completely get it.  You want to keep you options open, you don’t want to get too tied down when there are so many options out there.
It’s hard to tell how an Android netbook would work.  Would it have multitouch? Would there be different apps for netbooks than there are for phones like the G1?  The possibilities are endless.
When the iPhone came out people weren’t sure if OS X on a phone would be sluggish, but after selling millions of phone any doubters have their answer.  …
