It was bound to happen.  Asus went out and announced not one, but two 10 inch netbooks powered by the Intel N450 processor.  When there’s more than one of anything people want to know which is better, what the differences are and how to decide which one to pick.
The 1001P and 1005PE are hitting shelves all over the world, so it’s now it’s time to compare them.

As of January 18th, 2010 The Asus 1005PE netbook with Intel N450 processor just recently started shipping out to customers but has already raced up to the top of Amazon’s Best Seller list.
The 1005PE is able to get 8+ hours of battery life in real world tests.  This isn’t the 11 hours Asus promises with their $339 model, but it is still better than many of the other N450 based netbooks.

Liliputing took a look at the Asus 1005P and 1005PE netbook and was able to provide the differences between the two.  The difference aren’t that drastic but are noteworthy.
- The 1005PE comes with either a 63Whr or a 48Whr battery, while the 1005P will come with a lower capacity battery
- The 1005PE will come with a chicklet style keyboard
- Lastly and most importantly, the 1005PE for $339 is currently available while the 1005P still hasn’t hit shelves.
