I'd definitely encourage you to give the 1005HA a look. The 1005PE is a great model, but the lowest price I've seen on one is about $290 - meanwhile you can get the 1005HA for $220 through TigerDirect (and Bing Cash Back). The biggest difference is the processor, graphics, and operating system. The battery life difference is going to be minimal because the 1005HA will still last you longer than any full sized notebook.

Windows 7 is cool, but I find Windows XP to be better all around. Especially for these lower end, slower machines. I just bought my wife a 1005HA so I'm a little biased but that's my opinion on the matter.

so im looking at this or the 1005ha. is that extra cost really worth the extra 4 (theoretical) hours of battery life.

I've heard that the keyboard on the 1201N is pretty roomy. Have you tried
one out for yourself? You just might like it. I agree that it's a shame
that they don't but with so many new products coming out maybe they'll
change things up and that a new feature.

Its a pitty that none of the ASUS netbooks have a full-sized keyboard. I really want to get a 1005ha or a 1201N but I also have large hands which means I would really benefit from a bigger keyboard.

Does it seem like anything which wasn't working as well is now working faster? It's a shame that Asus doesn't go in more depth about what the update fixes but any info would be great.

Just ran the update, everything is running fine. For some reason I have NEVER been able to get the ASUS Bios updater to update from anything but a downloaded file, first on 2 computers I built on ASUS MB's and now on my Netbook. No big deal really, it's still far easier than trying to make a bootable USB stick.

It definitely should, even though much of the video is taken care of because of the video card a lot of people are also seeing improvements by overclocking their processor.

I was going to put up my own "how-to" installation guide for this thing but it's not very hard. You just have to take almost all the screws off the thing to get to the underside of the netbook. The PCI-e slot is next to where the memory and hard drive go but you can't get to it the way that the bottom of the netbook is designed.

It turns out that it doesn't have 2 PCI-e slots, it only has one. Right now I need Wifi more than I need clearer video so I'm going to keep with what I have.
