One of the mistakes I made and won’t make ever again is using my netbook with the 1GB of RAM it came with.  It’s true that my 1000HE boots up in what seems like no time at all, the real problem happens when I want to do something slightly intense like scan an image into my netbook from my Canon scanner.  I’m sure you’ve probably experienced something similar with your own netbook.

If you own a netbook chances are it only came with 1GB of RAM, with the maximum it can take being 2GB.  Adding more RAM will allow you to open programs quicker,  make your computer turn on quick and should make watching video online smoother.

While it may be counterproductive to add weight to a product whose defining feature is it’s diminuitive size and slender look, but working on a heavier netbook is better than working on a netbook with no battery power.
If you own an Acer Aspire One, you can snag a 9 cell battery which will last you more than 8 hours. This will allow you to work all day or on a long flight without needing to recharge.

This continues to be a good situation and getting better as pressure to make sales and generate profits has prompted everyone from Dell to HP to Acer and Lenovo to cut margins to the bone in order to sell netbooks.  The question is how they’ll make money.  Expect accessories to keep their coiffers full as people will look for extended batteries and replacement AC adapters.
