As 2009 comes to a close, the best way I could think of celebrating would be to reflect on all of the great products which have been released and come out and declare something to be the best. Calling something the best isn’t easy because everyone has varying opinions but my choice is defensible and comes after a lot of careful consideration. After careful time and thought it became clear that the best netbook of 2009 is the HP Mini 311. With such a bold statement as that, the next question …

The HP Mini 311 is one of the best netbooks available on the market today, but all that glitters is not gold. Some people are reporting issues with choppy video playback. It turns out the issue may come down to how the original video content was encoded as well as the software being used to watch or stream content.
Thanks to a community of helpful users several solutions have come up for people experiencing this issue. The first thing you should try is CoreAVC. This software is optimized for the Nvidia …

Take the HP Mini 311 (pictured above) and depending on when and where you buy it the memory it comes with could either be 1GB of DDR2 or DDR3 memory. DDR3 is another stop in the long line of new technologies becoming available to help manufacturers get away with charging more for their computers.
The good part is that if you’re worried about the difference in specs, you can relax.

Even though Windows 7 is on it’s way to the shelves in a few days, Windows XP based machines aren’t completely obselete. For years, Windows XP was a great option for older, slower machines since it doesn’t require many system resources to function.
One such example is the HP Mini 1030NR. TigerDirect is selling this netbook for $249 which is the best price available online.
At this price, you’ll get the following specs:
-Intel N270 1.6Ghz Atom processor
-10.1 inch screen
-Windows XP Home
-1 GB of RAM
-16GB SSD Hard Drive
-LED Screen
-3 Cell Battery
-Integrated Webcam

The HP Mini 311 was supposed to come with Windows 7 in October, but it’s late September and it’s now available. When compared to other 11.6″ netbooks this is actually a great value. First of all, you’re going to get a great screen which is not only LED backlit but also has a resolution of 1368 x 768. It has a 1.6Ghz Atom processor, 160GB hard drive, and 1 GB of DDR3 memory (versus DDR2 in other netbooks)
The real claim to fame is the Nvidia ION chipset which pair an …

Kudos to jkontherun. They cracked the case and the details about the subsidized Sprint netbook which I’ve been writing about for months. Similar to other netbooks, you sign up for a two year agreement on their 5GB, $60/month plan and you get a rockbottom price on a portable computer.
They are getting it to the level of almost free by offering it for $.99, which is almost free but still involves a fee of some sort. If you don’t want to get the deal, you can get the Compaq netbook for …

Verizon may have “the Network,” but their netbook deal is horrible. If anyone decides to buy a netbook from Verizon you’ll only discover that you wasted your money, your time and you’ll only end up wishing that you never did it in the first place.
How am I so convinced?
