The good people at Engadget are reporting that you can now snag a 32GB SSD drive for your Dell Mini 9 netbook as an option. The current pricing is $100 in addition to any of the other options you choose. This is pretty steep when you consider the netbook only costs $349 to begin with. If you’re worried about additional battery life, you’d be better off with getting an external battery or put the money to getting the 6-cell battery which is $129.

MyDellMini.com has a forum point where someone added touch screen capabilities to their Dell Mini 9 netbook. They did it under the Ubuntu Linux operating system with parts purchased from eBay.

Electronista reports that you can now snag a 12″ Dell Mini netbook from their US site. To get all of the weight savings you’ll have to pay at least $550 for it which is pretty disappoints when you can get a 10″ netbook for around $400. The UK is experience a big decline in their financial markets and their housing market haven’t been performing much better than what’s going on in the USA.
It makes perfect sense that to get the buzz out about Vodaphone subsidized netbooks by giving some away.

It looks like the 2008 Black Friday deals aren’t going to be limited to the traditional brick and mortar companies. Dell is going to be participating in the Black Friday festivities and has a treat for those willing to wake up bright and early on Friday.
They’ll be offering a Mini 9 for $299. This is at least a $50 savings over their base configuration. It remains to be seen if they’ll be throwing anything else in there for the price.

Pointing fingers never feels good. It goes back to being in grade school and never wanting to be the tattle tale. Still when something isn’t right you have to correct it. Liliputing.com, a great site for all things computer related, posted a story about QVC selling the Dell Mini 9 netbook for $529 which should only be $449 by their count.
The problem is that when you look at what QVC is selling you realize that it actually isn’t a bad deal, as much as QVC usually seems like a ripoff …

First isn’t always best, just ask Asus. They took lead in promoting their Eee PC last year. Now Acer has come on strong to promote their Acer Aspire One. So much so that Acer is looking to ship 6 million netbooks which is more than the 5 million Asus is looking to ship in 2008.
Acer has been pricing themselves very competitively in the market and they are one of the few netbooks which can be had with a 6 cell battery standard instead of having to pay for one separately. …
