Office Max’s 2009 Black Friday ad was posted, and taken down but not without learning about a great netbook deal.
Office Max will be selling an Acer Aspire One netbook for $149.
This is the lowest price on a netbook for quite some time and should help to reenergize sales of these computers especially with Windows 7 out and available.
Will we see a $99 netbook to top this? Let’s hope so.

Have you ever had someone set you up on a date that you really didn’t want to go on?  It usually isn’t any fun and leaves you wondering how you’ll ever be able to get that time back.  Wall Street is trying to do something similar between Dell and Acer.
Over the last few years Dell has been going downhill.  They used to be a Wall Street darling wowing investors with their ability to squeeze profits and ship their computers all over the world.  Once HP and Compaq figured things out …

It turns out that netbooks aren’t immune to the slowdown in economies all over the world.  Last year MSI, Acer, and Asus were very confident in their ability to ship more netbooks than they’ve ever been able to.  Unfortunately the reality doesn’t fit that expectation.
According to Digitimes:
Although Acer is estimated to have shipped two million Aspire One netbooks in the first quarter, the sources said that sales in the channel were lower. Meanwhile, Asustek’s Eee PC sales were only 900,000 units, lower than the expected one million units, while MSI …

There are so many netbooks out there it’s hard to tell which could be the right one.  Instead of trying to figure it all out I actually sat down to make my decision.  First I had to consider what things in a netbook I wanted:
-Long battery life
-Bluetooth
-Keyword with space
After looking at the options, I’ve settled on the Asus EEE 1000HE.
Here are the specs to show that this gave me everything I was looking for:
XP-Preloaded with 160G large H.D.D.
Intel Atom 280 Processor (1.66 GHz, FSB: 667MHz)
6 cell high density battery …

A friend of mine picked up an Acer Aspire One, and is pairing with AT&T’s 3G service.  He was able to get his netbook for 50% off in exchange for paying $59/month for the next 24 months.  The problem now is that he’s unable to connect to the internet.
When he turns his computer on, he’s able to verify that he indeed has service but when he tries to connect to AT&T’s network he gets an “Error 619″ code.  Now I was able to look up and find out that there …

It was only a matter of time. You will now be able to buy a netbook in America for under $100. The deal is being ushered through Radio Shack who is teaming up with AT&T. If you sign up for a two-year contract you’ll be able to get an Acer Aspire One for $99.

The Acer Aspire One is one of the most popular netbooks on the market right now, especially in the US.  Acer is serious about wanting to control the netbook market and bounce Dell as the number two shipper of computers.  To help demonstrate their commitment to this goal, Acer is planning to announce a 10 inch version of the netbook.  If the Aspire One is any indication, the other manufacturers will have a lot to worry about.
