BREAKING: MSI Looking To Exit Netbook Market
According to a recent article on Digitimes.com, MSI may be a casualty of the netbook market. Unable to become a top 3 brand in the space and with rapidly changing hardware and wavering demand the computer company will likely exit the netbook space in 2011.
MSI wowed people several years ago with their line of Wind netbooks. Over time other companies entered the space and made it harder and hard to stand out and became a bit of an also-ran. As AMD looks to get into more netbook and with Intel dual core netbook chips making their way into more machines the crowd has become even thicker.
In 2010, the biggest competitor the netbook space has been tablet machines such as the iPad. Millions of units being sold have captured the public’s eye despite it’s higher pricetag for less functionality. It just doesn’t make sense for a smaller manufacturer to stay around as things seem to only be getting worst.
MSI – we will miss you.
