What’s The Difference: 1201N vs. 1201PN
Now that the 1201PN is available for purchase the logical question people are going to ask is “what’s the difference between the 1201PN and the 1201N.”
My goal here at netbookreports.com is to answer the questions people have so I wanted to highlight real quickly the differences between the two models.
- The 1201PN is the replacement for the 1201N. You’ll find that if you can buy the 1201N the price will be somewhere around $450 – $490. The 1201PN sells for approximately the same price and has the same $499 MSRP. Now that Asus has given the 1201PN ION 2 graphics they are replacing their older 1201N netbook with Nvidia ION graphics.
- The 1201PN uses a N450 processor whereas the 1201N uses a Intel N330 dual-core processor.
- The 1201PN is rated for 6 hours of use, while the 1201N is rated for 5 hours of battery power. The increase in battery life is a result of the different processor as well as the graphics switching capabilities of the 1201PN.
- The webcam in the 1201N has digital zoom capabilities while the 1201PN does not.
