Specs For The Asus 1215N ION2 Netbook Revealed
The Asus 1215N is coming! It promises to be a big departure from the Asus 1201N. In the picture above, the two are placed side by side. All details aren’t known about the 1215N, but we know more about the specs than we did previously.
The 1215N will come with USB 3.0 so it’s built to handle newer and faster peripherals.
The 1215N will come with Nvidia’s Optimus technology which is currently called ION 2. This allows the netbook to supercede the built in graphics when more demanding applications are opened.
The 1215N will come with the D510 processor. This is a dual core chip but not the new dual core netbook chip people were expecting.
You can also expect it to come with 2GB of memory and at least a 250GB hard drive. It will come with a 6 cell battery which will run for at least 5 – 7 hours but battery life can drop significantly if you’re using the higher end graphics more often than not.
The trackpad is also noticeably larger on the 1215N. It looks like Asus pushed the keyboard back further against the screen of the 1215 to make room. This is a great upgrade as most people complain about the cramped trackpad on current netbooks.
No prices have been announced for the 1215N, but if I had to take a guess I’d imagine that it will retail for close to $600.
