Netbook Battle: Asus 1005PR Vs. HP Mini 311
Many people who are looking at the Asus 1005PR may be doing so with tunnel vision. If you’re looking to spend $400 on a netbook computer you could actually go pretty far away from the 10 inch 1005PR netbook. One such contender to look at is the HP Mini 311. It sells for as little as $379 from many online stores.
The HP Mini 311 has some great PROs working for it when you consider that it has a 11.6″ screen, Nvidia ION graphics, and a 6 cell battery.
On the downside, it also has an older N270 processor, and Windows XP operating system. If you can get past these two negative you’ll be able to enjoy a great value.
If you want the newest, latest and greatest it’s hard to not look at the 1005PR. With no ION2 netbooks currently available at the time of this writing, the use of a Broadcom HD decoder is one of the best ways of bringing HD video to your netbook. The 1005PR also pairs a high resolution 1366 x 768 screen. You’re also going to get 7+ hours of use since the 1005PR uses an Intel N450 processor. The downside is that the 1005PR is only 10 inches in size. If you want a small compact computer this is definitely the choice for you.
I already have a 1005PR on order to review so I’ve already made my decision. Considering the benefits and sacrifices of both computers I might be swayed to buy the HP Mini 311. I don’t do much gaming so I’d try to get the smallest netbook possible with the features I’m looking for.
The choice is yours.
