90-OA001B9100: 1005HA, 1101HA Netbook Battery

One of the main motivations for someone buying a netbook is the long battery life.  Of course batteries aren’t meant to last forever and you may find that over time your netbook just doesn’t run for as long as it used to.  If that’s the case you’ll be delighted to know that not only are extended life batteries available for the 1005HA/1101HA Asus netbooks but that they are available for a significant discount off of what the manufacturer charges.

Asus is in the business of selling netbooks, not netbook batteries so they aren’t going to give you the best price. Period.  Having said that, many other companies will come and create their own battery to meet or exceed the manufacturer specification and do so for considerably less.

The 90-OA001B9100 battery from Asus costs $179 according to Asus’ website.  At $179 you could very well buy a replacement netbook.  Amazon.com sells an extended version of this battery for only $60.  The standard 6 cell battery is rated to last for 8.5 hours whereas the battery you’ll find at Amazon is rated for 12 hours of use.

If you play a lot of graphics heavy games, or watch television online, or just enjoy accessing the web via Wifi this battery upgrade is something to consider.  $60 is a lot less than $179 and for being able to run your netbook all day it makes for a great add on if you are in need.
