Price Of Broadcom HD Decoders Shoots Up

When I was able to get my Broadcom HD decoder for $8, I knew I got lucky but I didn’t realize how lucky I had actually gotten.  In recent weeks the rpice of these cards on eBay has shot up as fewer and fewer people are using the site to sell them which in turn is inviting people who are selling them to get greedy.

These cards help people with netbooks play video easier and more smoothly.  Many netbooks don’t have an extra mini PCI-e slot and to use this the wifi card has to be removed and replaced with an external adapter.

If you don’t want to pay $100 for one of these cards you have two alternatives to the gouging on eBay.

First, you can buy your card through Logic Supply.  They sell their Broadcom HD decoders for under $40.  The second option is to buy them by the lot.  A lot is a sum larger than 10 all the way up to 1,000 pieces.

Would this HD Decoder work with an Asus 1005pe?

It definitely would. Not sure if it has an extra mini PCIe slot so you might have to take the wifi card out and get a USB adapter. Might be worth considering if you're planning on doing a lot of online video viewing.
