Asus 1201T Netbook Now Available In US
After months of waiting, the Asus 1201T is finally available to US customers. The 1201T combines an AMD MV-40 processor with ATI HD3200 graphics. One of the things you’ll find that is missing is a traditional operating system. Instead it comes loaded with a variation of Linux called Splashtop. You can install Windows if you’d like by using an external DVD drive or USB thumbdrive.
Other specs of the 1201T includes 2GB of DDR2 RAM (max is 2GB), 160GB hard drive, 802.11 b/g/n Wifi, 6 cell battery, webcam/microphone, and bluetooth.
One thing you’ll notice which is absent is HDMI. This makes it less useful than the 1201N, but more powerful than the 1201HA. With the 1201HA prices at $319 and the 1201N priced at $489 the $389 price is a good middle ground.
Newegg currently has the 1201T in stock at the $389 price. You can check it out here.
I’ve covered the 1201T pretty extensively since it was announced. I’m not a fan of it but here are other articles for you to check out if you’d like to read more before you buy.
