Rumor: Asus 1201T To Launch In US For $429 In Feb 2010

The Asus 1201T isn’t availabe in the US at the time of this article being written. In fact, it’s becoming news that the same 1201T is now available in Germany for 399 Euros. I don’t have any sources or leaked documents but it seems likely that we’ll see the 1201T show up stateside in February for $429.
I would love to think that this netbook is going to come out for under $400 but AMD can’t let that happen. People already think their processors are cheap, they can’t back that up with a low pricetag but at $429 there is enough distance from both the higher end ION netbook as well as the lower end N450 netbooks for it to get noticed. AMD did a smart thing by pairing up with Asus. The only way they could have done better is if they decide to launch with Acer.
As far as the release date, I actually did some research to get to that date. Asus doesn’t like to release netbooks in March. They typically start shipping new product in January/February and August/September. There’s no way I’m going to believe that they are going to wait until the Summer to get this out.
I’m actually already a little disappointed at the 1201T no matter what prices it comes out for and when it actually gets released but I’ll get into that with a different post.
