Netbooks CPUs Get Compared, Charted For Your Viewing Pleasure

The above image compares the Windows Experience Index score for several processors used in netbooks and other ultra portable computers.  You’ll notice that the Z520 and Z530 rank lower than the N270 Atom processor which makes a lot of sense since those processors clock significantly lower clock speed.  The N270 clocks in a 1.6Ghz, while the Z520 only reaches 1.33Ghz.

The MV-40 which is getting a lot of attention as the chip found in the new Lenovo X100e shows lots of signs of strength performing just under the SU3500 processor found in netbooks such as the Acer Aspire 1410.

It’s important to note that the Windows Experience Index is more of a benchmark for how the processor will be able to show special features in Windows rather than raw processing power.  It also ignores any boosts your netbook may be getting from additional RAM, updated graphics, or hard drive.

When shopping for a netbook for yourself or someone else, these scores will help you better understand how well you’ll be able to use everything Windows has to offer.
