Does MSI Think Netbooks Will Stay Important?

MSI, maker of the popular line of Wind netbooks sat down with the folks at LaptopMag during CES 2010 to talk and make some statements regarding netbooks.
When asked if netbooks are here to stay President of MSI, Joseph Hsu said:
A lot of it depends on Intel. I believe that Intel and AMD have a very good knowledge of the product. Intel won’t allow the netbook to get much bigger than the 10-inch form factor. So it’s frustrating. Still, I believe we are poised to lead this category. I saw 80 percent growth for this past year, and this year maybe 30 to 50 percent. But the regular laptops are still growing.
The 10 inch restriction may end up leading to the death of netbooks or the rise of smartbooks but Intel will decide whether or not they want to lift that restriction moving forward.
