1201N Now Available At Best Buy For $449

24 January 2010 129 views View Comments

Best Buy has undercut the whole internet and is now offering the 1201N for only $449.  That’s $50 less than it’s MSRP and at least $20 cheaper than anyone curruently selling it online.

After comparing it to the other models available from other stores it appears that to offer it for the $449 price they removed bluetooth, and lowered the RAM from 2GB to 1GB.  An advantage is that the 1201NB has a matte cover which will help and prevent fingerprints from showing up easily.

Aside from that everything else is the same.  The 12.1″ screen, 1366 x 768 resolution, 6 cell battery, Nvidia ION graphics, Windows 7 Premium OS, HDMI all remain in tact.

Check out the 1201N at Best Buy today.

Also, it doesn't appear to have Bluetooth.

That's correct. You can pick up a USB bluetooth dongle for $10 if that's a make or break for you. You'd still be saving over a regular 1201N.

The best buy model is also only 1GB of memory and can only be maxed out to 4GB. The correct model numbers is 1201NB, its different than any other 1201N being sold right now. It appears to be dumbed down for best buy.

The difference between 1GB and 2GB is minimal in performance. People have tried to add 4GB in a 1201N and it didn't do much to improve performance (20% increase in some applications) - http://www.netbookreports.com/2010/01/asus-1201...

The B at the end of the model number means it's a Best Buy model, otherwise it's a 1201N. The only other 1201N model coming out is the 1201NL.
