Samsung To Ship More Netbooks Than Asus; Prove It’s About Quantity Not Quality
I’m not ashamed to say that I’m biased. When I see a netbook and it has an Asus label on it, my expectation increase compared to other netbooks. They seem to be dropping new models every week and are excitingly received by most of the websites I read which cover netbooks. All of that doesn’t matter to Samsung. The suppliers which help turn Samsung netbooks into computers from a jumble of parts, thinks they’ll be able to ship more netbooks than Asus and Samsung must be pretty excited about that.
The feeling that Samsung is poised to take the number 2 spot from Asus is that Asus wants to focus more on notebooks, and less on netbooks. With so many new models being released as new technologies emerge Samsung can easily outship Asus if they decide to make sure the global marketplace is flooded with new products bearing their name.
The real question here is how will they sell? The move by Asus may be their way of letting the rest of the market know that there is less room for netbooks to boost their bottom line and doubling down in the product category may leave them with egg on their face. Only time will tell but we should all be on the lookout for a bunch of product announcements from Samsung in the near future.
