Kmart Not Sure If It’s Selling A Netbook This Black Friday

I’m not exactly sure what Kmart was thinking but someone in their merchandising department is likely to get fired.  Netbooks are definitely supposed to be cheap but they also have to be usable.  This Black Friday Kmart has decided that they are going to sell the Delstar 7 inch netbook with Windows CE for $119.  Take a moment and let that sink it.  The icing on the cake is the picture in the ad which shows Windows XP being used.  I’m almost embarrassed.

The brand, size, and operating system is likely enough for most people to stay away.  The price may be the only reason someone picks this up at all.  The downside is going to take place once they see the specs.  I was able to dig them up by searching around online.

I picked one up but my plans have this as a great option. I have been doing alot of work with using automotive OBDII ports from diagnostics to dyno testing and MPG calc's. This netbook should have enough computing power to run some smaller app's but also have a small enough power draw to make it worth my time. Now I will admit if you are looking for full feature, probably dont want this. If you want an inexpensive way to do surfing and email this is not a bad way to go. Who knows in a year or two mabie I will hack it out :)

My dad bought me this computer todayand I'm on it typing right now. My dad, not the best knowing all the eletronics and stuff, bought me this. He was so excited when he came back saying that it wasn;tmuch at all. I was thinking oh great not much, not good. And once I saw what it looked like I was a little dissapoitned to say the least. It looked like those computers from like 2000. When I opened up the box, the cover of it was great and so was the inside. What I found out though was you can't download like anything at all, and everyone was commeting about how Windows CE is like horrible. They stand corrected. It runs fast and has internet and all that, but only but it for like little kids and a backup coputer. Plus, as I am typing, the keyboard is very small and cramps my hands. I'd buy it for the small price, other than that; don't waste your money. Know I'm trying to get my father to buy a different Netbook.

Look closer. The taskbar is grey. It's not Windows XP in the picture, but Windows CE like it said. If you checkout Delstar's site, they have better pics and screenshots.

Yes I would be embarrased too. I may get one just for sheer hacking...
