Kudos to jkontherun. They cracked the case and the details about the subsidized Sprint netbook which I’ve been writing about for months. Similar to other netbooks, you sign up for a two year agreement on their 5GB, $60/month plan and you get a rockbottom price on a portable computer.
They are getting it to the level of almost free by offering it for $.99, which is almost free but still involves a fee of some sort. If you don’t want to get the deal, you can get the Compaq netbook for $389.
This will be great for Sprint as many people can avoid such a great deal and Sprint is hurting for the subscribers but just remember that over the course of 24 months you will be paying over $1,000 for your $.99 netbook.
