I wonder if Dell heard it when Google CEO Eric Schmidt was discussing the prospect of Android on netbooks.  While he didn’t have any specific announcements for netbooks, he did spend time discussing the concept that they’re perfect for leveraging the cloud.
From his standpoint it makes sense.  While it may not be possible to get netbooks and Android to work out the right way he does have a money printing machine with Adwords.  This platform works well with desktops using Windows and a browser.  If this installed based grows and …

There is a lot of buzz online today about Dell dropping the price on their 10 inch Mini 10 to $299.  While this may sound like a great deal something about this just sounds a little off.  The deal is available yet, but one of the things I’d be on the lookout for are any changes to the warranty or to any of the other “extras” Dell usually gives out which may be removed.
Dell is announcing their earning is three weeks and this model showing up will definitely help them …

Intel, king of processors is also king of marketing spin.  In an effort to help their partners charge more for their netbooks while squeezing more money from an existing product Intel introduced the N280 processor.  The largest and seemingly only difference between the N270 and N280 is the bus speed.  By raising the bus from 533 Mhz to 667 they’re able to enable the processor to run at 1.66Ghz instead of 1.6.
The difference in 1.6 and 1.66 is small.  Very small.  So small that in the image above you see that …

Over at EeeUser.com there are some mounting concerns about the quality of the screens used in the 1000H.  While only two people have reported actual cases, it’s important to note that netbooks are inexpensive because many of the qualities of higher end notebooks are stripped.
These qualities include stronger and thicker plastic used in the casing, cushioning around the screen to absorb vibrations, and use of a better quality screen.
This isn’t a definitely yell for a recall, but more of a FYI (for your information).  Remember that you can’t go and …

InformationWeek has an interesting idea.  They think that people are only going for the smaller, lighter, cheaper netbooks because of the economy and that once things improve that their ability to sell will decrease as people have more money to buy larger, more powerful machines.
The only problem is the the price isn’t the only key.
The days of needing a 10lbs computer to lug around to do everything are over.  The web faciliates much of our commerce, entertain, and communication leaving little demand for powerhouse computers.
When doing the comparison, people like …
