I wonder if Dell heard it when Google CEO Eric Schmidt was discussing the prospect of Android on netbooks.  While he didn’t have any specific announcements for netbooks, he did spend time discussing the concept that they’re perfect for leveraging the cloud.

From his standpoint it makes sense.  While it may not be possible to get netbooks and Android to work out the right way he does have a money printing machine with Adwords.  This platform works well with desktops using Windows and a browser.  If this installed based grows and they decide to use Gtalk and Chrome to IM and surf, then use Google Docs for their wordpressing needs and Gmail to email, he won’t need to make money by selling ads in Android apps.  Instead he’ll just be building on the success which already exists.

It remains to be seen how and where things are going but it looks like they’re getting interesting.  You can read more at TechCrunch who originally provided the story.
