Today AMD announced it will indeed fight with Intel in the netbook space. They aren’t going after the regular Atom processor but are instead going after the proposed Dual Core Atom processors Intel is rumored to be working on.
The new Yukon platform will be introduced in the first half of 2009. It will be manufactured using a 65nm process and feature 2 cores, and 1MB of cache. There is currently no word on the FSB speed. Expect them to work at the 1.2Ghz to 1.5Ghz range with AMD stating that they’re equivalent to the same Atom processors ranging from 1.6Ghz to 2Ghz.
