Netbooks are a pretty recent phenomenon.  Before netbooks became mainstream you had regular notebooks and UMPCs which were more like mini-tablet PCs than anything else.

Over the course of 2008, people searching for netbooks has grown dramatically.  It’s pretty surprising to see where the people are located that are searching for these ultraportable notebook computers.

Hawaii leads the way in searches with Washington in second place.  It’s more of a West Coast phenomenon for now with people in almost every state looking to get their hands on a Acer Aspire One or Dell Mini 9.
