According to Reuters, Acer is the netbook champ overseas in Europe.  This comes as confirmation that Acer wasn’t completely off base when they said they wanted to ship millions of netbooks next year and take over the #2 PC spot from Dell and control share of netbook sales globally.
When you consider the value the Aspire One provides with it’s 6 cell battery and the upcoming tie-in with Sprint to help push XOHM WiMax, things are beginning to pickup for thet Taiwan manufacturer.

Dell has been doing a lot of advertising lately, almost to the point that you’d think that there weren’t any other brands selling netbooks.  Lenovo, not wanting to be left out, has a deal of it’s own it wants to promote.
The 10-inch version of their IdeaPad S10 netbook is only $409, down from $439.
This is almost a great deal since the S10 only comes with 512MB and a 3 cell battery instead of 1GB of RAM and a 4 or 6 cell battery like it’s competition.
C’mon Lenovo, make the deal …

[This is pure speculation; we don't have any insiders or "ninjas" feeding us information.]
Best Buy is going to stop selling Linux Netbooks.  It would be a surprise if you saw them there after the holidays.  Right now is the time when people begin shopping for holiday gifts and for many a netbook or notebook are high up on the list.  At under $400, netbooks seem very attractive but when they have Linux installed there’s a layer of complexity.  Best Buy won’t want to deal with the return that will happen …

The title says it all, but it seems to be mostly hopeful anticipation than anything else.  AMD has been sitting on the bench for what could be called a long time as Intel creates a vertical integration that would even make Apple stand up and applaud.
Intel makes a wide range of processors, they’re entered into a joint venture with Micron to start making SSD’s and they’ve made graphic processors for a while.  Intel frequently makes reference design products to show manufacturers how you can take their products and evolve their …

There is a lot of steam building around carrier subsidized netbooks.  It has the potential to be a revenue stream for cellphone carriers and a great way for people to get broadband without having to deal with the Comcast’s and Time Warner’s of the world.
Consider that Acer announce a version of their Aspire One with WiMax built in.
These events point to what looks like a partnership between Acer and Sprint’s 4G network.  While it’s hard to say if this kind of move would prevent the millions of people leaving to …

After digging in and finding the $299 Dell Mini, we’ve discovered Walmart’s sister company Sam’s Club is featuring the Acer Aspire One netbook for $350.
Since you can get one from Best Buy for the same price, it’s hard to tell how much of a deal it is.  If anything, it sounds like a good deal if you get shut out from other places, and Sam’s Club has a great return policy.
Happy Post-Thanksgiving shopping.

LaptopMag got their hands on a Samsung NC10.  After testing the battery, they found that the battery lasts more than 5 hours which is unheard of with almost any other netbook.
By making some subtle changes (i.e using a state-of-the-art SSD drive) they were able to almost squeeze 8 hours from the battery.
Samsung appears to be serious about making big waves in the US PC market.  It’ll be interesting to see what other goodies Samsung has waiting.

If you like Kool-Aid, there’s a great article on Linux-Watch.com
It makes sense an article bashing Windows 7 would show up on the site, but it completely goes against a couple key facts that appear to be known to everyone but them.
First, almost no consumers user Linux.  This is key when it comes to netbooks because netbooks are aimed at schools or business users looking for a PC companion.  When people have a problem they want to be able to make changes themselves, or call someone that can help them.  Some …
