Best Buy Loves Eee PC’s

Earlier today, Best Buy was getting a lot of press because they are selling the popular MSI Wind with Windows XP for $349.

The good vibes didn’t last very long when a story of horrible customer service surfaced.  A customer picked up a Sony mini-notebook and the accompanying warranty.  When something happened, he went back to his Best Buy store realizing that the store was the best place to go in order to get the problem fixed.  True to their word, Best Buy was ready to replace the notebook or give the customer credit but this is where the problems begins.

Best Buy disregards the fact that the customer paid over $2,000 for their laptop, they only look at the specs.  The customer bought a mini notebook, so they offered to give the customer an Eee which is also a mini notebook.  On the face of the deal, it makes sense.  Prices come down on technology but it’s a very bitter pill to swallow.

A $2,000 investment dwindles to $600.  This goes to show that before you make a big ticket purchase to call your credit card company and find out what kind of protection they’ll offer.  It may just be easier to use your card and work directly with them.
