Today AMD announced it will indeed fight with Intel in the netbook space.  They aren’t going after the regular Atom processor but are instead going after the proposed Dual Core Atom processors Intel is rumored to be working on.
The new Yukon platform will be introduced in the first half of 2009.  It will be manufactured using a 65nm process and feature 2 cores, and 1MB of cache.  There is currently no word on the FSB speed.  Expect them to work at the 1.2Ghz to 1.5Ghz range with AMD stating that …

CNet got their hands on the Asus Eee PC S101, the upscale version in the line and had some great things to say about it.  All in all the review was positive, but at $650+ is a steep price to pay for a netbook.  The one area where the S101 shines is with battery life.

Electronista reports that you can now snag a 12″ Dell Mini netbook from their US site.  To get all of the weight savings you’ll have to pay at least $550 for it which is pretty disappoints when you can get a 10″ netbook for around $400.  The biggest difference aside from the screen real estate is the operating system.
